Bung Chawak Zoo

banner-Bung-Chawak-Zoo Bung Chawak Zoo is a zoo in the Doem Bang Nang Buat district in Suphan Buri.

I visited Bung Chawak Zoo during the week. There weren’t many visitors. Sometimes it felt like there was nobody else in the zoo. I loved how quiet it was. The animals were all calm and resting, nobody was pushing you anywhere or blocking your view to take pictures. To me that was perfect.

The entrance fee was not divided in Thai and foreigner. My husband and I got the same price for a change. We both paid 30 Baht. The entrance fee for children is 10 baht.

We started at Big Cat Land. The name describes it, it’s a department with only felines. I love all cats so I was very happy during the whole visit. There were lions, lionesses, tigers, tigresses, leopards, cheetahs, and so on.

It’s very different from western zoos. You can get really close to the animals. I don’t know if you should consider it a good or a bad thing. It’s just different. It’s normal to ensure your own safety in Thailand. I wouldn’t let my kids run around unattended, but for us adults it’s pretty funny to see the safety signs.

After the feline department we went to the birds. I thought it would be boring as I’ve seen the biggest bird sanctuary in Asia (Chainat Bird Park), but it was still worth the visit. There were many colorful birds.

Bung Chawak Zoo has a very large cage, with a wide variety of bird species, which you could enter.

The last part of Bung Chawak Zoo was a mix of different type of animals and an African wildlife zone. There were many interesting, cute and some strange animals.

In my opinion one of the nicest zoos I’ve seen in Thailand and the animals don’t seem to have stress, but I’m not a specialist. I’m just giving my opinion as an animal lover.
