Wat Tham Khao Wong

Wat Tham Khao Wong is a temple in tambon Ban Rai in the province Uthai Thani. The temple was built in 1987. As the name in Thai reveals it is built against a mountain.

It’s not the typical temple you would have in mind if you think about a Thai temple. It’s completely made of wood. It reminds me of a local temple where no tourists would go to. Inside it is clearly made for shorter people. I’m not tall at all and I managed to bump my head against the ceiling. Wat Tham Khao Wong is sober on the inside, but that’s quite charming about it.

I have the feeling the park around the temple is build to attract tourists. Wat Tham Khao Wong is surrounded by beautiful nature. You can clearly see this park is created by man. It is not naturally, but it’s beautiful anyway. It is really worth the visit!
