Wat Tha Sung
Wat Tha Sung or Wat Chantharam is a temple in Uthai Thani. To me it is one of the the most beautiful temples I’ve seen. It’s also called the diamond temple.
The exterior of Wat Tha Sung doesn’t look like a regular temple as it is covered with mirrors instead of gold. But it still doesn’t look quite exciting from the outside. Once you enter, you’ll be amazed by the beauty of it. I love how shiny it is inside. You wouldn’t expect to find something like this in Uthai Thani.
If you are visiting Wat Tha Sung, make sure to visit the Golden Castle or Prasat Thong-kam, as it is located on walking distance. It’s a beauty as well, but not as popular as Wat tha sung.
Like the name reveals it is a completely golden castle. There are no statues inside as it is not a temple. It does have lovely carved doors and the walls, pillar and ceiling are beautifully decorated with gold foil.
Across the street there is the old part of the temple. There you’ll find a float on the water surrounded by big catfish. You can buy food to feed them.
The fish are protected by the temple, you can not catch or harm them. If you would harm the fish you get ‘baab’(English pronunciation: Bāp in thai: บาป), it’s the opposite of merit.
Wat Tha Sung or Wat Chantharam is open for visitors from 9:00 - 11.45 and from 14:00 - 16:00.
There’s no entrance fee.
The Golden Castel/ Golden Palace or Prasat Thong Kham is open for visitors from 8:00 - 16:00.
There’s no entrance fee.
Please keep in mind that you are visiting a temple and dress properly. Nobody will prohibit you from entering, but cover up a little to show respect.
