Yam Khai Dao

Yam Khai Dao is incredibly easy to make but yet so delicious! It’s a bit spicy, sour and refreshing. It’s definitely not just a salad. In Thailand I eat this almost every week. I hope you’ll like it!

Ingredients

  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tomatoe
  • 1 carrot
  • 1 thai cucumbers (1/3rd if you use european cucumbers)
  • a little bit of red cabbage
  • a little bit of lettuce or Chinese cabbage
  • a bit of cilantro
  • limes (how much depends on your flavour, I use 4 for this recipe)
  • fish sauce
  • thai chillies (how much depends on your flavour, I use 1 for this recipe)

Preparations

  1. Wash the vegetables and cut them into pieces of your choice
  2. Squeeze the lime
  3. Wash the coriander and chop it
  4. Chop the chilli
  5. Break the eggs

Preparation method

  1. Place all the vegetables and the coriander in one bowl
  2. Add fish sauce to the lime in another bowl (1/3rd ratio)
  3. Mix a bit of the sauce with the vegetables and taste test (untill it is just not too spicy)
  4. Fry the eggs
  5. Cut the egg into pieces keeping the yolks intact
  6. Place the pieces of egg on the vegetables and sprinkle a bit of the sauce on them

Yam-Khai-Dao If you don’t like some of the vegetables I used you can replace them with other veggies to your flavor
