banner-bkk Bangkok is the capital city and the most populous city of Thailand. It is known in Thai as Krung Thep Maha Nakhon or simply Krung Thep. It is ranked 73rd in the world in terms of land area by City Mayors.

Bangkok is actually not a province but a metropolitan. It is locally governed by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration.

Bangkok borders the provinces Nakhon Pathom, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Samut Sakhon, Samut Prakan, and Chachoengsao. Like most of Thailand, Bangkok has a tropical wet and dry climat. It experiences hot, rainy and cool seasons, although temperatures are fairly hot all year-round. The rainy season begins around mid-May. September is the wettest month. The rainy season lasts until October, the dry and cool northeast monsoon takes over until February. The hot season is generally dry, but also sees occasional summer storms.

Bangkok is one of the world’s top tourist destination cities. As the main gateway through which visitors arrive in Thailand, Bangkok is visited by the majority of international tourists to the country. Bangkok’s multi-faceted sights, attractions and city life appeal to diverse groups of tourists. Among Bangkok’s well-known sights are the Grand Palace and major Buddhist temples of which the most known are Wat Phra Kaew, Wat Pho and Wat Arun. Shopping and dining experiences offer a wide range of choices and prices. The city is also famous for its dynamic nightlife.
